With the use of a household board game ⎯ which consisited of a few rules and two decks of cards that had been hand-written and illustrated by us and our 9-year-old daughter ⎯ we were able to stimulate a dialogue between fathers and daughters on themes of feminist thoughts and practice.
I do not pose my sitters. I do not deliberate and then concoct... Before painting, when I talk to the person, they unconsciously assume their most characteristic pose, which in a way involves all their character and social standing - what the world has done to them and their retaliation.
I thought about the way that I love, and that it’s impossible, that I pour love into people and things passionately and never expect it to be returned. It’s just me who gives, that is how my life is now.
